Good grief: Chris Matthews blames Giffords shooting on tea party during debt ceiling vote

If at first you don't succeed, try again. If you don't succeed that second time, try again. and then again. And then again and again and again. And just keep going into an infinite string of failures that make you look like the jackass that you are, expecting a different result in trying the exact same thing. But after all that - after months of trying to link conservatives the the Giffords shooting - Matthews goes to the well for the thousandth time:

NBC News' newest star Al Sharpton offers a barely coherent segment calling the Tea Party a monster. He also asks his guest, Lee Fang from left-wing Think Progress, what is becoming a trademark of the Sharpton interview style: A long, rambling, nonsensical statement that bears no resemblance to a question. Well done, NBC News. you should be so proud.

Chris Matthews and NBC News are so intent on promoting the Democratic Party's talking point that President Ronald Reagan favored tax increases that they plucked a few words from a press conference Reagan gave in 1987 to attempt to make the argument. Walsh responded “where’s the President’s plan Chris Matthews” and stressed that it was Obama who wasn’t serious and was playing politics. Walsh also vowed that as a freshman Congressman, he promised to change how business is done in Washington and that’s exactly what the Republicans are now doing.

"Here's the problem we have right now, Mr. Speaker. We have a leadership deficit. I keep hearing about the President's got a plan. The President's offering balance. "The President did inherit a tough problem. No two ways about it. What did he do with this problem? He drove us deeper into debt. $1 trillion of borrowed money for a stimulus that was promised to keep unemployment below 8% and went up to 10% and now it's at 9.2%. A stalled economy. A budget the President gave us that doubles the debt in five years and triples it in 10 years. That's not leadership."

I thought that violent rhetoric was supposed to be off limits after the January Giffords shooting, no? Well, not for liberals:

Rich people didn't cause the mortgage meltdown that lead to the Obama recession. Government interference in the free markets did, in this case forcing banks to give loans to people that couldn't afford them. The rest is history.

The 'New Civility' (Cont'd): Chris Mathews Calls GOP Effort to Lower Spending and Keep Debt Ceiling in Place ‘TERRORISM’

To normal people, terrorism is flying planes into buildings and killing innocent people. It is strapping a bomb to your chest and running into a crowd of women and children and detonating yourself. To the liberal, it is not being able to spend money you don't have. No, really!

Calling Republicans the "Wahhabis of the American government" wasn't enough for MSNBC's Chris Matthews today. In case his audience didn't fully appreciate the subtle nuance of his message, he reiterated by calling efforts to cut spending, retain the debt ceiling and to not increase taxes "terrorism". Also note the on-screen graphic titled "Tax Cut Cult". Matthews' comparisons of Republicans to violent religious extremists just keep on coming.

Chris Matthews: Regulating Abortion Is Like Jim Crow Efforts to Disenfranchise Blacks Or Something

Several ironies here:

Matthews is purportedly a Catholic, a church where abortion is a mortal sin without exception
Jim Crow was a Democrat ad Jim Crow laws were instituted by Democrats
Abortion disproportionately affects black people. in fact, Planned Parenthood was founded to target and eradicate the black population via abortion

In the warped mind of MSNBC's Chris Matthews, efforts to regulate the practice of abortion are morally equivalent to literacy tests in the South that were aimed at preventing African-Americans from voting.

The "Hardball" host made that puzzling and arguably insulting comparison on the June 30 program in a segment titled "What's the Matter with Kansas?"

"Kansas may be on track to become the first state in the country to put an end to abortion," Matthews told his audience yesterday, explaining that:
A new law requires the state's abortion providers to comply with strict new regulations that set equipment, temperature and space requirements, and the Associated Press reports that as of today, only one of the state's three clinics met those requirements. Two others were denied permission to operate, effectively shutting them down [when the law takes effect] tomorrow.
Before the commercial break, Matthews had promised "both sides" of the debate, but in truth supplied only one side, interviewing a left-leaning reporter and then an abortion rights activist.

Doesn't that just figure. The video:

Funny that Matthews never makes such a comparison to those trying to ban the 2nd amendment by fiat, such as Chicago where former mayor Daley required that every gun owner get training at a range, and then banned ranges from existing in the city.
