'Look at me now!' Stars from their meager beginnings to Now!

 I was listening to an Andre 3000 rap and the line, "We came a long way like dem slim ass cigarettes..." stood out in my mind and  just so happen became the inspiration behind this article.  I was thinking about how some stars were when they first impacted onto the scene to the present day.  Some artists have had meager beginnings but have risen to the level of SUPER STARS.  Let's take a look at a few to see the progression of hungry new jacks, to seasoned veterans that STILL command and garner accolades and adoration from their legions of fans.

'Destiny' Dual? Kelly vs. Beyonce

Is there a 'Destiny's Child Dual?

Most likely not.  The two divas may always seem to come back out solo head to head, but if there is any competition, it is a sisterly, healthy type of competition.  The two have spoken on numerous occasions of how they support, love and respect each other's craft. There is room for both of the ladies on the scene at the same time. Right?

Music has been circulating around from Kelly.  Fans and critics alike are eagerly waiting to see what the follow-up single for the char-topping 'Motivation' will be.  There is no official second single as of yet.

And at press time, Beyonce's '4' leaked on the Internet a few days ago.  There was speculation that a secret emergency meeting was called to revamp the album due to the leak, or scrap it all together and start over.  These rumors have not be substantiated yet.  So as we wait to see what's next for the Ladies of 'Destiny'.  Let's take it back with some throwback jams from BOTH divas!

Wrapping up my 'Week of the Woman' Series is none other than a 'portrait' of sisterhood. What better way to display this than by highlighting a quintessential group that personifies just that. Destiny's Child has endured their fair share of ups and downs and bumps in the road, but once that perfect TRIO was reached, there was no stopping the ladies. With hit after chart-topping hits and successful solo ventures by all 3 ladies, this group embodies what I think 'Sisterhood' means. Through it all, they have remained each other's BIGGEST FANS. SO in praise of Beyonce's whirlwind week of accolades and praise at this year's Billboard Awards, Kelly's chart-topping # 1 single 'Motivation', and Michelle's successful run as 'Roxie' in Broadway's 'Aida', let's praise the girls for their successes.

Since Beyonce is making the ladies think you can 'run the world', Lady GaGa let's them know they can be just who they want to be and Oprah Winfrey's departure from television proves that she actually did 'run the world'--the world of media.  I thought it fitting that we give tribute to the woman.  The strong independent women that are out there daily making changes, juggling career, fame, love & life and still manage to look good doing so.
