Obama Press Sec Jay Carney On Dow Jones Plummeting: "Markets Go Up And Down". But By 513 Points?

By now, you all know how bad the market tanked the day after the debt ceiling was raised to keep the market from tanking:
Good grief - always blaming someone else for Obama's doing:
"There is no question that we have -- this economy has faced headwinds this year, a variety of them including the earthquake and tsunami in Japan, the increase in oil prices, energy prices that resulted from the unrest in the Arab world and the situation in Europe, also. So, our focus has to be on the things that we control which is to take the necessary measures"- Jay Carney
There was only one natural disaster to blame - Hurricane Obama. I mean, what else can he possibly do to destroy the economy any more than he has? Speaking of: Market Plunge Startles Investors, But Fed 'Out of Ammo' Amid Double-Dip Fears

Video of Sen. Bob Casey Jr. (D-PA): PA Has Mixed View Of Obama Because Of Poor Economy

Obama owns it:
The crappy Obama economy coupled with massive overspending has lead to this bombshell (via memeorandum): US borrowing tops 100% of GDP: Treasury
US debt shot up $238 billion to reach 100 percent of gross domestic project after the government's debt ceiling was lifted, Treasury figures showed Wednesday.

Treasury borrowing jumped Tuesday, the data showed, immediately after President Barack Obama signed into law an increase in the debt ceiling as the country's spending commitments reached a breaking point and it threatened to default on its debt.

The new borrowing took total public debt to $14.58 trillion, over end-2010 GDP of $14.53 trillion, and putting it in a league with highly indebted countries like Italy and Belgium.

...The last time US debt topped the size of its annual economy was in 1947 just after World War II. By 1981 it had fallen to 32.5 percent.

Ratings agencies have warned the country to reduce its debt-to-GDP ratio quickly or facing losing its coveted AAA debt rating.
Speaking of rating agencies, how much do you want to bet Democrats will actually try this: Video of Barney Frank: If Moody’s Downgrades US Economy, JUST IGNORE THEM!

NRSC Ad: Welcome to the Recovery

Should be 'Welcome to the Wreckovery' but whatever:
Seems to me ads like this are cheap to produce with modern technology, and there's plenty of fodder to be had. Is it too much to ask for a lot more than this? Like an ad a day? Heck - have a competition like Powerline had recently. The ads would come flooding in.

Video of Barney Frank: If Moody’s Downgrades US Economy, JUST IGNORE THEM!

Next time you're speeding and you see red and blue lights behind you, ignore them! When you are faced with that April 15 deadline for filing your tax return and you have too much on your plate, just ignore it. Too stressed out to pay that mortgage today? Just ignore it! When the authorities pay you a visit, just tell them that Barney Frank told you to do it: Barney Frank: If Moody’s Downgrades US Economy, Just Ignore Them
Rep. Barney Frank of Fannie Mae-Freddie Mac fame told Neil Cavuto this morning that if Moody’s downgrades the US debt, “We just don’t pay much attention to them… Don’t sell.” He then went on to blame the ratings agencies for ignoring the mortgage crisis… that he helped create.

Democrats are in full attack mode on credit agencies if you can believe that. From just a couple of days ago: Dennis Kucinich: Kill The Messenger! Downgrade The Credit Agencies! Flunk Me, FLUNK YOU!
Yeah - that'll help the overspending.

WE'RE BEING LIED TO! First Quarter GDP revised down to 0.4% from 1.9%

We are being lied to to such a level that it makes my blood boil. Not only did Q2 2011 come in at an anemic 1.3%, but what was far bigger news to me is that the Q1 GDP was revised downward to only 0.4% from the original 1.9%. That's a 450% cut from the original. How pray tell are we supposed to trust the numbers the government is giving us at this point? In fact, how do we trust that the Q2 1.3% number isn't also an outright lie and that the actual GDP is less than 0? In fact, what's keeping that Q1 0.4% from being revised downward again in the future along with the Q2 number such that we are technically in a recession right now but one that the current regime doesn't want to admit to?

From CNBC: Economy Grows at Sluggish 1.3%; Consumers Pull Back. The key word? 'Unexpected":
The U.S. economy grew less than expected in the second quarter as consumer spending barely rose, and growth braked sharply in the prior quarter, a government report showed on Friday.

Growth in gross domestic product—a measure of all goods and services produced within U.S. borders—rose at a 1.3 percent annual rate, the Commerce Department said.

First-quarter output was sharply revised down to a 0.4 percent pace from 1.9 percent.
We're being hoodwinked. Banboozled. Flat out lied to. There is no excuse for that large of a downward revision except that Obama doesn't want us knowing how bad it is out there. That wasn't the only downward revision however:
In addition, fourth-quarter growth was revised down to a 2.3 percent pace from 3.1 percent, indicating that the economy had already started slowing before the high gasoline prices and supply chain disruptions from Japan hit.
I would be remiss if I didn't mention that OBAMA WANTS THOSE HIGH GAS PRICES AND CAUSED THEM! Once elected, Obama went right to war with oil, so vehemently that a federal judge found Obama in contempt for usurping the US Constitution: Shocker: Judge holds Obama regime in contempt over illegal drilling ban. That coupled with Obama's incompetence at any semblance of foreign policy is setting up a nightmare scenario for oil prices that will hurt our economy. Gas is already above $4 a gallon here in Michigan and most expect that the $5 threshold will be breached across the nation this year (From The Detroit Free Press: Is $5-a-gallon coming soon?). High gas prices are exactly what Democrats and Obama want. O said so himself:  Flashback 2008: Obama says he wants gas prices to go up
Hope and change indeed... for the worse.

Video of Eric Cantor: Obama "Wrecked This Economy"

"At this point, you know, we have three options here. One is to wait, do nothing and go past August 2nd and bring on possible default, which I for one am not for, nor is the Speaker or any of us standing up here. Another is to go with Harry Reid's plan. Which is as the Speaker said, a blank check. Something that we as Republicans don't believe most Americans think ought to happen, because that lets spending continue in this town the way it has, and it helps promote the economic policies of the Obama administration, that it, frankly, wrecked this economy and thirdly, we have our option on the table, and it is consistent with our commitment to saying we will change the system here, stop spending money we don't have, and, start focusing on getting people back to work in this country." - House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-VA)

Darned right, except for the part about defaulting after August 2nd. It's a bunch of bunk. The video:

Video: Obama Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner Defends "Welcome To The Recovery" Op-Ed

We are in that summer of recovery, version 2.0. Meet the new summer of recovery, same as the old summer of reckovery. 3 million jobs have been lost since Obama took office, the unemployment rate is at 9.2% 2 1/2 years after Obama promised it wouldn't go above 8, and we're $4 trillion further in debt. And Geithner defends his remarks? In short, yes:
UPDATE: Linked by Instapundit! Thank you!

After losing 3 million jobs and raising unemployment to 9.2%, White House says economy has "vastly improved since Obama took over"

How is losing 3 million jobs an improvement? How is an unemployment rate that is still above 9.2% an improvement? How is an added $4 trillion to the national debt with nothing to show for it an improvement?
When asked if Obama can run on a weak economy, White House press secretary Jay Carney says it's "uncontestably [sic] true" that the economy has "vastly improved" since Obama took office.
Speaking of that extra debt and the debt ceiling debate, a solution via Instapundit:
STEVE CARTER: Threat of Jail Would End U.S. Budget Gimmicks. “The Congress that passed Sarbanes-Oxley concluded that the only way to ensure transparency in corporate numbers was to require corporate officers to certify that their numbers were correct. The penalties for falsely certifying are substantial — fines of as much as $5 million, and up to 20 years in prison — on the theory that the fear of personal liability will reduce the incentive to exaggerate future revenue or conceal future liabilities. By contrast, congressional appropriators and federal agency heads, are under no similar constraints. True, the government does have its own accounting principles. But nobody faces liability if the numbers are off. Nobody has skin in the game.”
UPDATE: The Detroit Free Press is of course for raising the debt ceiling by imposing taxes right away with the promise of spending cuts in the future that they know darned well will never materialize: Time runs short, but Gang of Six plan is worth pursuing

UPDATE #2: Just so we don't end up like Greece, a warning:
BILL FREZZA: Give Greece What It Deserves: Communism. “What the world needs, lest we forget, is a contemporary example of Communism in action. What better candidate than Greece? They’ve been pining for it for years, exhibiting a level of anti-capitalist vitriol unmatched in any developed country. They are temperamentally attuned to it, having driven all hard working Greeks abroad in search of opportunity. They pose no military threat to their neighbors, unless you quake at the sight of soldiers marching around in white skirts. And they have all the trappings of a modern Western nation, making them an uncompromised test bed for Marxist theories. Just toss them out of the European Union, cut off the flow of free Euros, and hand them back the printing plates for their old drachmas. Then stand back for a generation and watch. The land that invented democracy used it to perfect the art of living at the expense of others, an example all Western democracies appear intent on emulating. Being the first to run out of other people’s money makes Greece truly ripe to take the next logical step beyond socialism.”
Plus: Many states celebrate surpluses as Congress struggles with debt. That's because those states are required to have a balanced budget by law. That Balanced Budget Amendment to the US Constitution sure is sounding good at this point, no?

With 3 million FEWER Jobs Since Obama Inaugurated and 9.2% Unemployment, DNC Chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz Doubles Down On Stupid: 'The Economy Has Turned Around'

This is the second time she broke out teh stupid:
Just over one month ago: Fantasyland: DNC Chair Wasserman Schultz Says "We Turned This Economy Around". Even liberal sycophant David Gregory immediately stated that the economy is not turned around:
Probably the only thing I agree with MSNBC's Ed Schultz on: Wasserman Schultz is a "joke."

Video: NBC's David Gregory calls Obama's OMB Director's response a "programmed answer"

First a prologue: Obama July 2009 Economy my problem
With that in tow: "On Meet The Press, host David Gregory asks White House OMB Director Jacob Lew if Obama has failed on leading the economy, given his July 14, 2009 speech where he said on the economy, "give it to me." Lew gave what David Gregory called a "programmed answer." Gregory then points out the reality is under Obama, the economy has not turned around and that Obama has not led on the budget talks." And yes - it is THEE David Gregory:

MI MSM: Entitlements are responsible for economic growth or something

This from Rich Haglund (formerly Granholm's very own personal lemmiwinks): Government program cuts threaten economic recovery in Michigan, U.S. He does lay out how bad the entitlement problem has become here in Michigan and nationally:
In Michigan, $2.32 of every $10 in income came from what economists call transfer payments: jobless benefits, food stamps, Social Security, Medicare, disability and other government programs.

And Michigan was just one of four states that saw income from government payments grow at least 5 percentage points since 2007, Moody’s says. The others: Arizona, Nevada and South Carolina.

Even more troubling, the entire growth in Michigan’s personal income since 2006 came from transfer payments — an inflation-adjusted $23.2 billion, according to an analysis by University of Michigan economist Don Grimes.

Income from wages, salaries and self-employment fell $22.2 billion.
But now with the coming debt ceiling artificial deadline of August 3, welfare is threatened. Not wanting to raise the debt ceiling is the GOP's fault don't you know. Plus the GOP instituted new legislation here in MI decreasing the government handouts. In Haglund's world, that's a bad thing. Here's one thing he neglects though, and it's a whopper: Flashback: Harry Reid 2006 AGAINST RAISING DEBT CEILING: Public Debt 'The Greatest of the Dangers to be Feared'. Oh, but there's more: Flashback: Obama 2006: “America Has A Debt Problem And A Failure Of Leadership,” Voted AGAINST IT! And this one for the road: Every single Democrat Senator voted against raising the debt ceiling in 2006. What say you to that, Haglund?

UPDATE: An editorial from The Detroit Free Press: Tough times make stricter welfare rules unfairly harsh. Are these guys still running Journolist?

Rep Tim Scott, (R-S.): Obama is hampering the nation's ability to create jobs

Well of course he is! How else to explain the hyper-regulation, the giveaways to unions, the massive tax increases and the overspending each of which cost jobs and all together have destroyed economic activity in this country, only to afterward with that as hindsight demand more of the same?
Since Obama came into office, 3 million jobs have been lost, and that doesn't count the fact that 150,000 need to be created each and every month just to keep up with population growth. Taking that into account, Obama is 7.5 million jobs in the hole! Along those lines: Rep Allen West (R-FL): Obama 'needs to admit' his economic policies 'have failed' America
UPDATE: More Allen West:
Rep. Allen West (R-FL) sat down with MRCTV on Wednesday, July 13, 2011 to talk about a wide range of issues from the debt crisis to the Obama administrations handling of fast and furious. West also stands by his statement that Attorney General Eric Holder should resign.

Video of NBC's David Gregory: The President's Economic Policies Have Failed

Gregory is about as liberal as it comes, but even he can't stand by the fact that Obama blew $4 trillion and lost jobs as a result. That is failure by definition:
More from that interview: Geithner Gets Ridiculously Defensive, Admits Economy Slowing

Heck yes: RNC launches ad campaign attacking Obama on economy

Obama made the recession worse. It's for sure and for certain. And in 2012 the RNC appears to be taking the gloves off, implicitly repudiating McCains non-effort in 2008 to show America who Barack Husein Obama really is:
Via memeorandum. LAughably, teh DNC is saying just the opposite from what they were saying when Bush was President and the economy was in a whole lot better shape than it has been under O:
Democratic National Committee communications director Brad Woodhouse shot back at the RNC spot, calling the new ad misleading. He said:
No one should be surprised that the Republican Party, much like its candidates for President, are trying to mislead voters about the state of the economy.  While the President continues to fight to clean up an economic mess that was years in the making, Republican's would rather run negative ads than offer positive ideas. Instead of joining in solutions that will strengthen the Middle Class and create jobs, Republicans are fighting to protect budget-busting tax loopholes for oil companies and Wall Street, tax breaks for millionaires and billionaires and to roll back laws that crack down on consumer ripoffs by lenders and insurance companies.  Instead of working to protect the privileged few while slashing support for seniors, students and the investments we need to get our economy moving again, Republicans should work with Democrats and President Obama to help Middle Class families get ahead — the very people who were hurt the most by a decade of failed economic policies.
In other words, as the country crumbles into economic hell... ALL IS WELL!
ALL IS WELL!!!
Good luck with that being Obama's campaign slogan...

Pic of the Day: Two thousand years in one chart

Via The Daily Chart, a reason to celebrate as in just this last century we have mostly done what God commanded Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden:
28 God blessed them and said to them, “Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky and over every living creature that moves on the ground.”- Genesis 1
This chart pretty much shows that we have indeed subdued it but only in the last 100 years because of our God-given ability to design systems and thus make technological advancement:
