Story:
Set on the backdrop of a lower class slum, the story begins with Balaji (Muthukumar) who hates his drunkard father Jothi (Shimmore) and leaves home along with his brother Karthik (Nani). Both grow up at their uncle’s place and Balaji ensures their father’s shadow never falls on Karthik who joins engineering.

Meanwhile, Karthik is in love with Revathi (Nithya) and has a very close friend Vishnu (Karthik Kumar). The story takes a turn when Vishnu joins hands with Jothi who becomes a pimp for earning quick money and he takes the help of Karthik for that. Vishnu wants to get his lover Vani (Bindu Madhavi), a prostitute, out of the brothel. However, what seems to be a snatch job changes the fate and destiny of each one involved. What is that incident? How the story turns after that forms the rest of the story.

Review:Raghava (Lawrence) is a seemingly happy go lucky youngster, who most often plays cricket, but suffers from extreme noctiphobia (fear of the night). Even though he seems twenty-something, he still needs to sleep close to his mom (Kovai Sarala) and is scared very easily by horror stories narrated by his brothers’ kids. One fine day Raghava and his teammates have to find an alternative ground to play cricket and they end up going to an eerie looking old site. They are chased by some unseen power, and everyone scatters off. But unbeknownst to Raghava, he seems to have brought home a force that does not belong to this world. Strange things begin to happen at his home, and it isn’t long before the people at home discover that they are sharing their home with not one, but three ghosts, all finding shelter in Raghava’s body. In a parallel story a politician finds that few of his supporters are being killed mercilessly.
Raghava’s mother calls sufi exorcists, and it is revealed that the name of the main ghost inside Raghava is Kanchana. Under the exorcist’s spell Kanchana narrates a story that leads to a bloody climax.
What is Good : Kanchana manages to survive mostly on scaring the audiences with situations that keep you on the edge of the seat. At the heart of story, there is an unexpected support to eunuchs, who most often as kids do not know how to deal with themselves. The guest appearance of Sharath Kumar as a eunuch gives us some glimpse of a storyline towards the end of the film, which otherwise is built on a wafer thin premise

“NOBODY knows anything,” said the screenwriter William Goldman of the film business. But a great many people think they do. And they may soon get the chance to back their hunches with money. On April 20th America’s Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) approved the second of two exchanges that would allow trading of contracts based on films’ box-office takings.

It is an answer to a real problem. The six main studios, which have become dependent on small numbers of big-budget films, are finding it hard to spread risk. Investors who fled during the credit crunch have not yet returned. Independent filmmakers are struggling to sell the rights to foreign box-office takings in advance—something they used to rely on to pay for their pictures. There is a need to hedge against failure. But Hollywood is not convinced that the exchanges meet it.

Although the markets run by Cantor Fitzgerald and Media Derivatives have been approved, the contracts to be traded on them have not. Hollywood is lobbying hard to stop them. It has launched a separate effort to have Congress ban box-office futures. Politicians as diverse as Barbara Boxer, a California liberal, and Orrin Hatch, a Utah conservative, have spoken out against them. It is the equivalent of a coast-to-coast marketing blitz.

Some of the objections are silly. A joint letter from Hollywood’s trade associations points out that box-office figures, though treated as reliable, are in fact estimates by the studios. True, but this is surely an argument for better figures, not for a ban on trading. There are, however, more serious problems with the exchanges.

The first is the information imbalance in the film business. Cantor’s market is based on an existing predictive market, the Hollywood Stock Exchange, which uses play money. A study of that exchange, by Thomas Gruca of the University of Iowa, found that it errs in predicting box-office returns by an average of 31%. But the studios know a lot more than other investors. They know how audiences are responding to test screenings, on how many screens a film will play, and how much they are going to spend marketing it. Although such information leaks out, it does so selectively and unevenly. As a result, almost every trade by a studio would be an insider bet.

And it is highly unlikely that a studio would ever short one of its own products. In Tinseltown, more than in almost any other industry, rumour and reality bleed together. A Hollywood executive is powerful and successful largely because he is viewed as being powerful and successful. A film that is rumoured to be a dud tends, by means of “bad buzz” leaking to newspapers and the internet, to become a dud. So a bet against a film would become self-fulfilling—to say nothing of how hard it would be to explain to the talent

Film Menculik miyabi, Pornohkah?

Hai semua, sudah lama sekali saya tidak posting. Kali ini saya mau bahas film Menculik Miyabi yang sering di eluh - eluhkan akan mengandung unsur hot dan porno. Apakah benar? coba simak artikel yang saya tuliskan di bawah ini deh.. ^^

Awal Kontroversi

Pada tahun 2009 banyak kontroversi akibat film Menculik Miyabi yang mau diluncurkan di Indonesia. Hal tersebut menuai beberapa protes khususnya dari lembaga - lembaga Islam di Indonesia. Protes tersebut membuat film Menculik Miyabi tidak jadi di luncurkan, tetapi berselang beberapa waktu setelahnya malah muncul Film yang cukup porno yaitu Suster Keramas, yang mengundang artis Blue seperti "Rin Sakuragi". Nah tentunya hal tersebut menjadi tanda tanya besar , mengapa Film Menculik Miyabi dilarang sedangkan Film Suster Keramas tidak?, dan hal tersebut masih berupa tanda tanya hingga sekarang.

Kemunculan Kembali

Film Menculik Miyabi yang tidak jadi diluncurkan tahun kemarin, ternyata mulai masuk lagi ke Indonesia dan mulai diputar di bioskop Indonesia pada kamis 06, Mei 2010. Tentunya film tersebut sangatlah di tunggu - tunggu.

Mengingat kehebohan yang sempat ditimbulkan pada beberapa waktu yang lalu, film ini menjadi film yang paling dinantikan oleh para penggemar Miyabi khususnya para kaum Adam (Pria). Walaupun begitu banyak juga orang yang tidak mengenal Miyabi menjadi tertarik dengan Film ini akibat dari kontroversial yang sempat ditimbulkannya.

Alur Cerita

Alur cerita dalam film "Menculik Miyabi" masih mengusung cerita tentang 3 orang pria. Walau begitu alur cerita Film ini dengan cerita sebelumnya dibuat berbeda mengingat stutrada yang berbeda. Cerita bermula pada saat Miyabi menulis di blognya bahwa ia akan datang ke Jakarta untuk memberikan hadiah kepada pemenang kuis. Ternyata hal tersebut dilihat oleh 3 orang penggemar Miyabi yaitu Kevin (Nicky Tirta), Bimo (Hardi Fadillah), dan Aan (Farish Nahdi). Segera setelah melihat berita tersebut 3 sekawan langsung pergi kebandara melihat Miyabi. Nah disitulah awal mulanya segala kejadian bermula, untuk mengetahuinya silahkan tonton sendiri haha..

Kekecewaan Penggemar

Ternyata Film "Menculik Miyabi" tidak membuat para fansnya di Indonesia merasa puas. Hal ini diakibatkan karena perannya yang sedikit di film. Miyabi dianggap hanya dianggap pemanis, malahan peran dari artis asal Taiwan, Sabrina Pai yang berperan sebagai Mie Yao Bie yang lebih cocok sebagai pemeran bintang dibanding dengan Miyabi.

Film ini sama sekali tidak mengandung unsur porno, akibatnya banyak dari para penggemar Miyabi yang khususnya suka nonton "Film Blue" merasa amat kecewa dengan hal tersebut. Alhasil , nama Miyabi hanya sekedar sebagai bumbu popularitas untuk mendongkrak film yang bahkan bisa di bilang kurang bagus karena masih jauh di bawah standar.

Saya sendiri sih sedih melihat perfilman Indonesia , bukannya menaikan mutu malah mengandalkan nama artis luar untuk mendongkrak popularitas. Pantas saja banyak film Indonesia yang bahkan kurang dihargai oleh bangsa sendiri, mengingat dari kualitasnya yang tidak memenuhi standar pentonton.

Miyabi Akan Main Film Lagi di Indonesia

Bintang film porno asal Jepang, Maria Ozawa alias Miyabi dikabarkan akan kembali terlibat dalam produksi film Indonesia. Beberapa waktu lalu Miyabi sempat membuat geger Jakarta lewat film berjudul Menculik Miyabi . Akibat tekanan sebagian publik di Indonesia, akhirnya proses syuting pun berlangsung di Jepang, tanah kelahiran wanita 24 tahun itu.

Produser Ody Mulya Hidayat berencana akan menghadirkan wanita seksi itu kembali untuk terlibat dalam filmnya. "Saya masih dalam proses dealing dengan mereka," kata Ody saat dihubungi, Senin (25/10) malam.

Ody belum tahu peran apa lagi yang akan disodorkan pada Miyabi. "Soal proyek, memang belum tahu. Ini kita masih lihat lagi. Kita juga melihat perkembangannya sampai Desember atau Januari," kata Ody. Miyabi pernah ditolak sejumlah ormas gara-gara statusnya sebagai bintang film porno.
