Farce! Harry Reid Filibusters HIS OWN BILL!

You simply cannot make this up! From The Washington Times via memeorandumDemocrats enforce filibuster against their own debt bill
Senate Republicans want a 60-vote threshold for a debt-limit bill to pass the chamber, but it's actually Democrats who are enforcing the filibuster on their own legislation, insisting on delaying a vote until 1 a.m. Sunday morning.

Republicans offered to let the vote happen Friday night, just minutes after the chamber voted to halt a House Republican bill. All sides expect Democrats' bill will fail too, and the GOP said senators might as well kill both at the same time so that negotiations could move on to a compromise.

"We would be happy to have that vote tonight," Sen. Mitch McConnell, Republicans' leader, offered.

But Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid objected, even though the vote would occur on his own bill. He instead said the chamber would have to run out the full procedural clock, which means a vote in the early hours Sunday morning.

An utter farce!

Until they actually pass something, Reid and teh Senate don't actually have a bill, but anyway:
Darned right! Even putting that aside, Reid proposes reducing the deficit, not the debt. That's like you or me maxing out our credit cards and then promising that in return for a higher credit limit, we will still overspend every month but by a little less than we used to. How the heck is that helping anything? At teh end of the day, you still have more debt!

Harry Reid: Tea Partiers Are Not Real Americans

Remember when the left was outraged over a perceived slight of their patriotism by Bush over the wars? Well, those times are over, replaced with Democrats explicitly stating that those opposed to their overspending ways are un-American. From Gateway Pundit via Instapundit:
Is this that 'new civility' Democrats promised back in January?

Dem lawmaker: ‘Nobody I know’ has seen Reid plan

That supposed competing plan that Harry Reid has? Just like Obama's plan, the pan is to not have a plan. Just campaign speeches and platitudes. Even Democrats are admitting that Harry Reid's plan is one that didn't happen, doesn't exist.
From The Hill via Instapundit: Dem lawmaker: ‘Nobody I know’ has seen Reid plan.
A House Democrat indicated Wednesday that Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) might not have party members' votes locked down for his deficit proposal.

"I'm not going to commit to something that nobody I know has seen and had a chance to analyze," Rep. Earl Blumenauer (D-Ore.) said. "I want to see it."

...But Blumenauer said that few Democrats have had a chance to sign onto Reid's alternative measure. "I had dinner with one of my friends who is a senator last night, who was saying they're really interested in seeing the details," he said on CSPAN's "Washington Journal" program. "They haven't seen the details yet."
The only detail we do know is that it will extend the debt ceiling beyond the 2012 election, which is pretty much the only thing Democrats care about.

Flashback: Harry Reid 2006 AGAINST RAISING DEBT CEILING: Public Debt 'The Greatest of the Dangers to be Feared'

"Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) quoted Thomas Jefferson saying, "I place economy among the first and most important government virtues and public debt as the greatest of the dangers to be feared," when voting against raising the debt ceiling in 2006."
“If my Republican friends believe that increasing our debt by almost $800 billion today and more than $3 trillion over the last five years is the right thing to do, they should be upfront about it. They should explain why they think more debt is good for the economy.

How can the Republican majority in this Congress explain to their constituents that trillions of dollars in new debt is good for our economy? How can they explain that they think it’s fair to force our
children, our grandchildren, our great grandchildren to finance this debt through higher taxes. That’s what it will have to be. Why is it right to increase our nation’s dependence on foreign creditors?

They should explain this. Maybe they can convince the public they’re right. I doubt it. Because most Americans know that increasing debt is the last thing we should be doing. After all, I repeat, the
Baby Boomers are about to retire. Under the circumstances, any credible economist would tell you we should be reducing debt, not increasing it. Democrats won’t be making argument to supper this legalization, which will weaken our country. Weaken our county.”
Since Harry Reid became Senate Majority Leader in 2006, more than $5 trillion has been added to the debt, and he now wants to raise the debt ceiling again. It's quite a hole he dug along with Pelosi and Obama:

The 'New Civility' (Cont'd): Harry Reid calls Tea Party "garbage"

That 'new civility' BS that liberals and their accomplices in the media were floating out there back in January was to apply only to conservatives. Moonbats are excluded:
Longer version here: ‘That’s a Bunch of Garbage’
Those in the tea party “seem to think they have an all knowing wisdom about the Constitution. In short, that’s a bunch of garbage. I don’t know how to say it more clearer than that.”
I dare say the average tea partier knows more about what's in that Constitution than Reid does.
