The 'New Civility' (Cont'd): MSNBC Host, Guest Consider Whether Tea Partiers Are Addicts, ‘Delusional’

Imagine the outrage if Fox News had run a segment analyzing liberals as brain damaged one and all. But for MSNBC, this is just par for the course: MSNBC Host, Guest Consider Whether Tea Partiers Are Addicts, ‘Delusional’
MSNBC host Martin Bashir interviewed Stanton Peele, a psychologist and an "expert on addiction," this afternoon. Bashir urged Peele to psychologically evaluate supporters of the Tea Party. "It reminds us of addiction because addicts are seeking something that they can't have," Peele said. "They want a state of happiness or nirvana that can't be achieved except through an artificial substance and reminds us of the Norway situation, when people are thwarted at obtaining something they can't, have they often strike out and Norway is one kind of example to one kind of reaction to that kind of a frustration."

Bashir later asked: "So you're saying that they are delusional about the past and adamant about the future?"

No wonder the false calls of racism towards the tea party and conservatives. They are desperate to expand the government welfare state.

The 'New Civility' (Cont'd): Rolling Stone Magazine: "The general consensus is that for the second time in three years, a gang of financial terrorists has successfully extorted the congress and the White House, threatening to blow up the planet if they didn't get what they wanted."

This is almost getting too easy. Almost. If I point out that this is akin to shooting large, slow fish in a small barrel, I will be accused of using violent imagery. But it;s nothing compare to the vile rhetoric coming from the same people that demanded a 'new tone' from conservatives in the aftermath of the Giffords shooting that they blamed on political speech. From Rolling Stone via memeorandumDebt Ceiling Deal: The Democrats Take a Dive
...The general consensus is that for the second time in three years, a gang of financial terrorists has successfully extorted the congress and the White House, threatening to blow up the planet if they didn't get what they wanted.

...Barack Obama has surrendered control of the budget to the Tea Party, whose operatives in congress used the same suicide-bomber tactic, threatening a catastrophic default unless the Democrats committed to a regime of steep spending cuts without any tax increases on the wealthy.

...The Republicans in this debt debate fought like wolves or alley thugs, biting and scratching and using blades and rocks and shards of glass and every weapon they could reach.
Good grief! Keep in mind that Obama gets to spend another $2.4 trillion that we don't even have to buy himself re-election, and that the supposed cuts are not cuts at all but rather decreases in how fast the government expands. Instead of expanding at 8% per year, it will only expand at 7.5%. There are no cuts and the debt will grow every single God-blessed day until the insanity is stopped. Today Tucson congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords (D-Ariz.) cast her first vote since she was critically injured in a January shooting.

You'll recall that in the weeks that followed, the media bemoaned the incivility -- supposedly predominantly conservative in nature -- of the political debate which had allegedly created a climate of hate.

But there appears to to be no firestorm over how, just last week, Arizona Daily Star cartoonist David Fitzsimmons fantasized about President Obama sending a SEAL team to assassinate Tea Party-friendly House Republicans.

UPDATE: Via Instapundit:
FROM JONAH GOLDBERG, a magnificent rant on press/pundit hypocrisy over “violent rhetoric,” the Tea Party, and Gabby Giffords.

Some of us were willing to stand up to the blood libels at the time.
From the Golberg link:
So flashforward to this week. Tom Friedman — who knows a bit about Hezbollah — calls the tea partiers the “Hezbollah faction” of the GOP bent on taking the country on a “suicide mission.” All over the place, conservative Republicans are “hostage takers” and “terrorists,” “terrorists” and “traitors.” They want to “end life as we know it on this planet,” says Nancy Pelosi. They are betraying the Founders, too. Chris Matthews all but signs up for the “Make an Ass of Yourself” contest at the State Fair. Joe Nocera writes today that “the Tea Party Republicans can put aside their suicide vests.” Lord knows what Krugman and Olbermann have said.

Then last night, on the very day Gabby Giffords heroically returns to cast her first vote since that tragic attack seven months ago, the vice president of the United States calls the Republican party a bunch of terrorists.

No one cares.

The 'New Civility' (Cont'd): NYT on Tea Party: "Never negotiate with terrorists." "Tea Party Republicans have waged jihad on the American people."

Never let a crisis go to waste as a prominent liberal has been quoted as saying (Rhambo). Nor will the New York Times let it. Already stricken with Tea Party Derangement Syndrome, the NYT ratcheted up the rhetoric even after Obama got another $2.4 trillion in borrowed money to spend on his re-election at taxpayer expense. Via memeorandum: Tea Party's War on America. Yes - the war on terror isn't a real war, but war it is against those US citizens demanding the government actually balance the budget! Check how this one starts:
You know what they say: Never negotiate with terrorists.  It only encourages them.  —  These last few months, much of the country has watched in horror as the Tea Party Republicans have waged jihad on the American people.
Earth to NYT: the Tea Party IS the American people! Not that whenever possible, the NYT and other liberal bastions connect conservatives with terrorists via that word 'jihad.' Hey - if it's good for one religion should apply to all, right? Well, at least those that the NYT wants to demonize anyway. Imagine the stories had a conservative written about liberals in this way just before the Giffords shooting in January. Headline fodder for months! Good grief: Chris Matthews blames Giffords shooting on tea party during debt ceiling vote

If at first you don't succeed, try again. If you don't succeed that second time, try again. and then again. And then again and again and again. And just keep going into an infinite string of failures that make you look like the jackass that you are, expecting a different result in trying the exact same thing. But after all that - after months of trying to link conservatives the the Giffords shooting - Matthews goes to the well for the thousandth time:

Video of Rep Hank Johnson (D-Ga.): "Tea Partiers" have enacted a "plan to dismantle the American government" and in the process, the country has lost its "moral compass" and we will capsize into the sea as a result

Instead of growing at 8% a year, the federal government will only grow at a clip of 7.9%. To liberals, that's equivalent to "dismantling" the government:
Pardon me for turning a deaf ear when I hear these liberals sanctimoniously invoke the "moral compass" while simultaneously supporting the ripping apart of babies in the womb and the rationing of healthcare to the elderly via ObamaCare. Half a bubble off plumb would be an improvement for Johnson. He was a full bubble off, at least, when he claimed that the island of Guam will tip over and literally capsize into the ocean because of overpopulation (at the 1:16 mark of this video):

Video of Charles Krauthammer: This Is A Victory For The Tea Party

I didn't agree at first, but he has a point with this: "The winner is the tea party. They have changed the debate in the country. I think they ought to do what George Aiken advocated in the worst of days of the Vietnam war, declare victory and go home. There will be another fight, a year from now. Obama is losing it. And I think that's where the big payoff will be and that's when the country will decide what everyone wants to do about debt and also about the size of government."
So have a setback in this battle but possibly and perhaps probably win the war. Also from Krathammer: Obama Will Lose Defending This Economy
"The tea party originally was to bring up -- created by the stimulus, Obamacare and opposition to the huge expansion of government and debt and what we're talking about today. Monopolizing all this discussion is debt and all in of itself is a victory. We are now in the debt era. It will now be central to all political debates. They've gotten quite a lot, a trillion dollars of cuts today. I'm also unhappy about the defense cuts.

"But look, you cannot govern out of one House if given the terrible economic numbers that came out on Friday. The President has to defend this economy next year he loses. The Republicans would have to run the worst campaign in history and not win. And then with control of the White House and the Senate and the House, you can make the changes you want."

Detroit Free Press on debt debate: GOP are terrorists, they "will detonate a bomb in the middle of a barely recovering economy"

lRemember that 'new civility' back in January? That call for a 'new tone' in political debate in the aftermath of the Gabriel Giffords shooting in Arizona? Yeah - it was all BS designed to shut up conservatives. Liberals have been in full-tilt demagogue mode every since. For instance, from Stephen Henderson, editorial page editor over at The Free Press on debt ceiling talks: In debt ceiling talks, Obama learns price of appeasing tea party extremists. The 'new civility' (cont'd):
Negotiate with terrorists, and they will come back again, asking for more.
Henderson repeats the above at the end of the piece too. Just to make sure you get that.
Increasingly, this is what the debt ceiling debate looks like in Washington, as GOP radicals extract pound after pound of ideological flesh from President Barack Obama, only to insist that it’s just not enough.

They will have their way — absolutely, with no exceptions — or they will detonate a bomb in the middle of a barely recovering economy, sending shockwaves that could reverberate for decades. Literal violence, it isn’t. But the GOP is certainly indulging an astounding act of economic hostage-taking.
Great job on that new tone thing! Why doesn't Stephen let everyone know that when their credit card is maxed out, and their spouse wants more credit and they refuse that they are terrorists and want to detonate a bomb on the family finances. That makes just as much sense as what is written above.

Fact is, there is already a compromise. Raising the debt ceiling in exchange for cuts IS THE COMPROMISE! After all, Obama will spend that increased credit immediately while we have to wait 10 years to see any cuts, and I'm in no way convinced those cuts are real.

Henderson's appeal is for more taxes on those evil rich people. Taxing the people that already pay the vast majority of the taxes anyway won't even put a dent in the deficit as the government is short by more than $100 billion... A MONTH! You can raise the rates on the richest 1% to 100%, steal all their wealth, and it still won't make a dent. That's how bad the problem is. So who's the ideologue here? The top 5% of taxpayers, by the way, pay more federal income taxes than the bottom 95%. Let that sink in for a moment. Meanwhile, the bottom 51% pay no federal income taxes at all and the bottom 40% get money back. So why should the top be punished even further? Curiously, the push for tax increases always comes like this from liberals:
...he has retreated on tax reform to the point where he is simply asking for some of the wealthiest Americans to give up deductions and loopholes that even many in the GOP say make little sense.
Um - Stephen: that's not asking. That's stealing (taxing for a legitimate function of government is fine, extracting money from people to pay for an illegitimate function of government such as cutting checks to other people is thievery). As in I will have more of your money or you will go to jail at the point of a gun!

And about those so-called tax cuts that Henderson claims are unsustainable:
...the deep tax cuts of the last decade are unsustainable
After the decrease in marginal tax rates in 2001 and 2003, the deficit decreased in 2005. And then further decreased in 2006. And again in 2007, which was the year of the last GOP budget. So we had a decreasing deficit for several straight years, after the tax cuts and after the wars. In 2007, the federal budget was $2.7 trillion. In 2011 it is $3.8 trillion. The vast majority of the deficit is composed of new Democratic Party spending, not lower tax rates, and not the wars.
If the federal government cannot get its fiscal house in order, then they deserve to be the cause for the US getting its credit rating downgraded. STOP SPENDING!

It's just like the left has been claiming - the tea party is full of the violent. Oh - did I say tea party? I meant DEMOCRATIC Part. Via BreitbartTV: Former Dem Operative Indicted for Bombing. The real story (and no - it was not Bill Ayers):

A former Democratic political operative has been indicted by federal authorities for allegedly planting a bomb in a Clayton parking garage in 2008.

Starting in 2004 Ohlsen was used as a consultant by the Missouri Democratic party. He even had lunch at the governor's mansion with then-governor Bob Holden.
And the video report:

So now MSNBC will do story after story of violence among the Democratic Party, right? Right???

Irony: Pro-abort Leonard Pitts Jr: "A great nation has a moral obligation to... care for the most... vulnerable of its people"

I have quoted Pitts before stating quite plainly that America is "a nation where human rights are given." Human rights are not given, and especially not by the government. If Pitts would quote from that Declaration of Independence, he will find to his horror that our unalienable rights are endowed to us by... GOD! Not by man. Indeed the Declaration of Independence identifies the right to "life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness", which is interesting since Leonard Pitts Jr is rabidly pro-abortion. That's right - he is pro-abortion but anti-death penalty, yet falsely blasted Republicans for not helping babies in Haiti after the earthquake last year, illustrating quite vividly that although he has no qualms about tearing babies to pieces, he will use those same babies to hit conservatives over the head on false notions if the opportunity presents itself. If Pitts can't stand up for the first and most important of those three unalienable rights (you can't pursue happiness without liberty, and have no liberty without life), then his abstract arguments for the 3rd in regards to universal healthcare and such aren't moving whatsoever. And so we have another Pitts column full of moonbattery over in The Detroit Free Press: Paying taxes -- a duty to your fellow Americans. Unless it's a typo, Pitts stats off by going iCarly:
Ipay my taxes.
And then he goes on to conflate the paying of taxes for legitimate purpose (public safety for instance) with paying taxes for illegitimate ones (ObamaCare, welfare, etc). The former is largely on the local level, the latter at the federal one which is increasingly disconnected from reality. But then Pitts gets all we we'd up:
I pay my taxes. I consider it a patriotic obligation -- a sacrifice for the greater we.
And that due to Tea Party Derangement Syndrome:
But that is not how the anti-government forces that have dominated political debate in recent years see it. To hear them tell it, to pay taxes is to be robbed. And every federal program our taxes support is wasteful and unnecessary, except, of course, those that directly benefit the complainer.
No Leonard, not "every federal program." Just the ones that are not in the US Constitution. The US Constitution after all was not written to give out rights but rather to limit the power of the federal government, a limit that has been breached by a metastasizing federal government looking to control the lives of every man, woman and child in the US all the way down to what's on our plate for dinner. And the Tea Party is not "anti-government," but rather for the proper place of government as per said US Constitution. Anti-government types are anarchists, of which I don't know a single one that is a tea partier. But back to healthcare, the most ironic quote in the whole piece:
...A great nation has a moral obligation to provide a safety net, to care for the most broken and vulnerable of its people.
Um - would those not be UNBORN CHILDREN? Can you think of any human being in a more vulnerable state than that? And Pitts condones literally breaking them into pieces. How sad that Pitts can't see beyond his liberalism-tinted glasses.

UPDATE: Since Pitts insists that paying taxes is patriotic, how then does he square that with the fact that not only does bottom 47% of taxpayers pay no federal income tax, but the bottom 40% GET MONEY BACK!
