MSNBC host Martin Bashir interviewed Stanton Peele, a psychologist and an "expert on addiction," this afternoon. Bashir urged Peele to psychologically evaluate supporters of the Tea Party. "It reminds us of addiction because addicts are seeking something that they can't have," Peele said. "They want a state of happiness or nirvana that can't be achieved except through an artificial substance and reminds us of the Norway situation, when people are thwarted at obtaining something they can't, have they often strike out and Norway is one kind of example to one kind of reaction to that kind of a frustration."

Bashir later asked: "So you're saying that they are delusional about the past and adamant about the future?"

When NBC News and Cenk Uygur "mutually agreed" to part ways last week, Uygur took to his internet news program to explain his departure. He boasted that his YouTube show had "up to a million views per day". This suggests that the world was hungry for Uygur's special brand of progressive political commentary.

We here at Breitbart.tv have taken a look inside the numbers and the fact is that political commentary is not what online viewers of “The Young Turks” keep clicking for. In fact, they aren’t looking for “news” either. The “up to a million views per day” are coming from folks interested in the same thing most online consumers are looking for: scantily clad women and sensationalistic viral stories.

Here is a very brief and hilarious overview of the top 50 shows presented by Uygur. After viewing them you’ll be asking yourself how NBC News ever hired him in the first place.

After giving a nearly six-month tryout for the Internet talk show host Cenk Uygur, the cable news channel MSNBC is preparing to instead hand its 6 p.m. time slot to the Rev. Al Sharpton.

Mr. Sharpton’s imminent hiring, which was acknowledged by three people at the channel on condition of anonymity because the contract had not been signed, is significant in part because MSNBC and other news channels have been criticized for a paucity of minority hosts in prominent time slots. Mr. Sharpton, who is black and is a well-known civil rights activist and radio host, has been guest hosting in the 6 p.m. time slot for the last three weeks.

Video: MSNBCs Contessa Brewer PWND! By Rep Mo Brooks (R-AL), asks him "Do you have a degree in economics?" WHY YES HE DOES!

MSNBC's Contessa Brewer, you may remember just yesterday said the attack on Rupert Murdoch at a hearing encapsulated what the British were feeling.

Today, Contessa "educated" a conservative Representative that without the bailout, the country would be in "a depression." Rep. Mo Brooks (R-AL) said he disagreed which prompted the MSNBC host to ask him if he had a degree in economics.

"Yes ma'am, I do. Highest honors," Rep. Brooks responded.

According to his Congressional page: "Mo graduated from Duke University in three years with a double major in political science and economics, with highest honors in economics. In 1978, he graduated from the University of Alabama Law School."

Talk about totally turning the tables on the patronizing, condescending Brewer! Total EPIC FAIL!

Exit question: can you imagine any such question asked of the community organizer-in-chief?

CONTESSA BREWER asks the wrong question.
Brooks actually has three degrees: political science, economics, and law. As a lawyer, Brooks would have been experienced enough not to make Brewer’s mistake in a cross-examination, which is to ask a question without first knowing the answer. Not only that, but Brewer was being flat-out rude as well as foolish; MSNBC invited Brooks to appear to get his perspective on the issues. If their hosts respond by belittling them (whether it backfires or not), what does that say about MSNBC, its management, and the kind of invitations they make?

Since Brewer made an issue out of having an economics degree before engaging in economics debates, she must have a doctorate in the subject herself, right? Not exactly. According to her Wikipedia entry, Brewer has a baccalaureate in broadcast journalism (magna cum laude). Apparently they didn’t teach interviewing skills at Syracuse, or logic either, as a requisite for the degree.
Exit question: If it weren’t for right-leaning bloggers looking for laugh lines, and Beltway journalists imbibing the talking points of the day, would MSNBC even have an audience? And yes, I know the answer to that one . . . .

The parent company of Fox News — News Corp. — paid the U.S. government $4.8 billion in taxes over the last four tax years (2007-2010).

GE, which owned most of MSNBC until late last year, paid zero taxes in 2010.

Rupert Murdoch’s News Corp did not get a $4.8 billion tax refund for the past four years, as I reported. Instead, it paid that much in cash for corporate income taxes for the years 2007 through 2010 while earning pre-tax profits of $10.4 billion.

And from the New York Times:

General Electric, the nation’s largest corporation, had a very good year in 2010.

The company reported worldwide profits of $14.2 billion, and said $5.1 billion of the total came from its operations in the United States.

Its American tax bill? None. In fact, G.E. claimed a tax benefit of $3.2 billion.

Is there a better example of crony capitalism and corporate welfare like this one? Do Surber comments:

No wonder MSNBC millionaires like Chris Matthews want more taxes.

Until recently, their employer did not pay them.

In fact, the Obama administration redistributed money from the parent of Fox News to the parent of MSNBC.

You taxpayer dollars, hard at work to fund the Democratic Party and their cronies. Liberals are quite generous with other peoples money, no?

Yeah - as if there isn't enough liberal bias already over at MSNBC:

...on today's show, Mika Brzezinski revealed that "we're getting hit a lot lately for not bringing on people who speak on behalf of the White House and really stick up for the President."

There was something surreal about Mika's statement. When she broached the subject of balance, I was sure she was going to say that complaints were coming from Republicans about the paucity of GOP/conservative guests on the show. After all, as Joe Scarborough pointed out moments later, when the show researched its guest list, it found a stunning 10:1 ratio of Democrats to Republicans!

But apparently that isn't good enough for those Obamaites. They want more Dems, and above all, more pro-Obama sycophants. So, Jay Carney, was it you who was kvetching?

But he didn't defame Bush, he instead called Obama "a dick" because of the arrogant presser he gave full of strawmen and demagoguery and not much else. Via BreitbartTV:

During a film montage tribute to late director Sidney Lumet, the obscenity "f**king" was broadcast on MSNBC. There have been no repercussions. This is in stark contrast to the immediate and indefinite suspension of MSNBC analyst Mark Halperin today after he said President Obama was "kind of a dick" at yesterday's press conference at the White House.

Could it be that Halperin was not suspended because of the obscenity itself, but because of the target of the obscenity?

It was the target of course.
