Finally: NASA Data Destroys Global Warming Hoax. Plus: Arctic scientist under investigation for scientific fraud regarding polar bear population decline

From Yahoo! News via memeorandum: New NASA Data Blow Gaping Hole In Global Warming Alarmism. Here on Earth, the global warming fraudsters have been fudging surface temperature data either indirectly via calculation massaging, or directly by placing temperature sensors purposely in areas that give a false high temperature (by blacktop, by buildings, by airports, etc). However, they can't get their mits on satellites, and satellite data may indeed be the downfall of the global warming hoax once and for all!

NASA satellite data from the years 2000 through 2011 show the Earth's atmosphere is allowing far more heat to be released into space than alarmist computer models have predicted, reports a new study in the peer-reviewed science journal Remote Sensing. The study indicates far less future global warming will occur than United Nations computer models have predicted, and supports prior studies indicating increases in atmospheric carbon dioxide trap far less heat than alarmists have claimed.

Study co-author Dr. Roy Spencer, a principal research scientist at the University of Alabama in Huntsville and U.S. Science Team Leader for the Advanced Microwave Scanning Radiometer flying on NASA's Aqua satellite, reports that real-world data from NASA's Terra satellite contradict multiple assumptions fed into alarmist computer models.

"The satellite observations suggest there is much more energy lost to space during and after warming than the climate models show," Spencer said in a July 26 University of Alabama press release. "There is a huge discrepancy between the data and the forecasts that is especially big over the oceans."

In addition to finding that far less heat is being trapped than alarmist computer models have predicted, the NASA satellite data show the atmosphere begins shedding heat into space long before United Nations computer models predicted.

Just five years ago, Charles Monnett was one of the scientists whose observation that several polar bears had drowned in the Arctic Ocean helped galvanize the global warming movement.

Now, the wildlife biologist is on administrative leave and facing accusations of scientific misconduct.

The federal agency where he works told him he was on leave pending the results of an investigation into "integrity issues." A watchdog group believes it has to do with the 2006 journal article about the bear...

The polar bear population has actually increased substantially since records have been kept in the 1950's, an inconvenient fact for global warming alarmists if there ever was one. Soccer player David Beckham and his wife Victoria (formerly a performer) are being derided in the British press as "bad role models." No, they're not publicly carrying on affairs, fighting in public, or abandoning their children. Their sin: having four children.

Boston Globe columnist Jeff Jacoby sees this latest finger-wagging -- including, ominously, scorn from a Member of Parliament -- as just the latest in a string of baseless warnings about overpopulation. Here's Jacoby's rebuttal:
Yes, more babies mean more mouths and therefore more consumption. But more babies also mean more minds and arms and spines - and therefore more new ideas, more effort, more creativity, more initiative, more enterprise. “Human beings do not just consume, they also produce,’’ writes George Mason University economist Bryan Caplan. “The world economy is not like a party where everyone splits a birthday cake; it is more like a potluck where everyone brings a dish.’’
The evidence is obvious. Are we better off today than we were 100 years ago, and 100 years before that? And than we were 2,000 years ago? Obviously.

The things is, the overpopulation 'problem' and its impact is pure mythos:

And fact is, our environment is cleaner today than it was in say the 1950s even though we have a much larger population and use a ton more energy. Why? Technology, baby. Technology.

Republicans, including Sarah Palin and Rudy Giuliani, made a "strategic blunder" by making a joke of Barack Obama's work as a community organizer, Newt Gingrich says in a new book about the radical ACORN group.

Far more egregious than the above, which I consider a non-issue anyway, is Gringrich getting his wide stance up with Nancy Pelosi all comfy on a couch together lecturing us about having to buy into the global warming hoax when the actual scientific data rather than showing a warming planet is showing a cooling one. The infamous ad:

Ugh. I still feel like blowing chunks every time I see it. Sure didn't seem like Gingrich was hoodwinked into that ad. But he now says he regrets it:

Pretty much a non apology apology of sorts. But it's too late Newt. You have exposed yourself as a rube buying into a hoax that the left wants to use as a pretext to abdicate our sovereignty and herald in a one-world government. Thanks but no thanks.

There has been talk, meanwhile, of a new environmental peacekeeping force – green helmets – which could step into conflicts caused by shrinking resources.

...But Germany, which called the meeting, has warned it is premature to expect the council to take the plunge into green peacemaking or even adopt climate change as one of its key areas of concern.

You ain't kidding!

"It is too early to seriously think about council action on climate change. This is clearly not on the agenda," Germany's ambassador to the UN, Peter Wittig, wrote in the Huffington Post.

"A good first step would be to acknowledge the realities of climate change and its inherent implications to international peace and security," he wrote.

I can do that quite easily. Hey guys - it's a hoax. The end.

An op/ed in Forbes: Why Hasn’t The Earth Warmed In Nearly 15 Years? This picks up from a piece I wrote back in early 2010 in the aftermath of the ClimateGate scadal: ClimateGate chief scientist admits: There has been NO GLOBAL WARMING SINCE 1995!!! The new theory? Burning coal both heats and cools the atmosphere at the same time. No - I'm not kidding:

It’s China’s fault. By dramatically increasing their combustion of coal, they have increased the concentration of fine particles in the atmosphere called sulphate aerosols, which reflect away solar radiation, countering the warming that should be occurring from increasing atmospheric carbon dioxide.

...the reason this is all so important is that if there is no good explanation for the lack of warming, then an increasingly viable alternative is that we have overestimated the gross sensitivity of temperature to carbon dioxide in our computer models.

...There is very little exchange of air between the northern and southern hemispheres, and basic climate science shows that most sulfates from China will rain out before they get across the thermal equator. In fact, there is a great deal of literature out there published by luminaries like the Department of Energy’s Ben Santer and NASA’s James Hansen claiming relative cooling of the northern hemisphere from sulfates, compared to the southern.

So, if it is indeed sulfates cooling the warming, given that there is no net change in global temperature, then the northern hemisphere should be cooling since 1998 (the first year in Kaufmann’s paper) while the southern warms. Here are the sad facts:

Yeah - the direct opposite of what should be occurring if the sulphate aerosol theory is correct, which it isn't. So what does this mean? As per the above: "we have overestimated the gross sensitivity of temperature to carbon dioxide." I would add the adjective 'grossly' to that.

UPDATE: A blunder of staggering proportions by the IPCC

Steve McIntyre has uncovered a blunder on the part of Pachauri and the IPCC that is causing waves of doubt and calls for retooling on both sides of the debate. In a nutshell, the IPCC made yet another inflated claim that:
…80 percent of the world‘s energy supply could be met by renewables by mid-century…
Unfortunately, it has been revealed that this claim is similar to the Himalayan glacier melt by 2035 fiasco, with nothing independent to back it up. Worse, it isn’t the opinion of the IPCC per se, but rather that of Greenpeace. It gets worse.
