Hot 107.9's Birthday Bash 16-Chris Brown, Jeezy, Lil' Wayne, Lil' Kim, & MORE!

Hot 107.9 took over Phillip's Arena on Saturday, and always, you never know just what surprises they will have in store.  And of course, the annual event did not disappoint!  The action and star power was non-stop!  The hottest in hip hop and R&B music were on hand or easily accessible in the wings to be brought to the stage on a whim.  For those that missed out! Here is a taste of what you missed.

Double Vision or Copyright Infringement? When music logos and brand logos collide!!

They say there is no TRUE original idea in existence.  Any, and everything can be derived from something else.  When it comes down to original ideas, original song titles, original movie concepts, etc.  Even when it comes down to brand LOGOS.  I've been looking around the music industry, and an uncanny trend seems to be emerging more and more.  Music groups are seeming to pattern their logos after already successful logos in existence.  I just pulled 3 off the top of my head.  I was watching 106 & Park recently and Romeo and his kid sister Cymphonique were dropping off new videos.

I kept looking at Romeo's t-shirt and the logo stuck out to me.  I asked myself, "Where have you seen that before?"  Then it dawned on me that maybe Romeo was a spokesperson for Louis Vuitton now?  I mean he has garnered a re-emergence of fame since DWTS and his roles in successful movies.  But that was not it.  I  researched and found that 'No Limit Forever' the record label, which is now run by Romeo has a similar logo to Louis Vuitton!  Clever.  Associating your label logo with an already recognizable and established logo.  It's almost like playing tricks on the human eye.

Looking at the logos side by side and you see very little difference in the two!  Uncanny, isn't it.  Is this too close to the LV logo to cause some type of copyright infringement suit?  I wonder?  Take the LV logo and one clever stroke from the artist and voila, you have the No Limit Forever logo.

Again, two strokes and one erasure and the NY Yankees log easily is transformed into the Young Money logo.  Seems Wayne and company made their logo more known than the fitted cap that bares the original. LOL.

And finally, Rick Ross' Maybach Music Group label on the left, Maybach the CONGLOMERATE on the right.  Just add a 'G' at the bottom and presto-chango, you have Rozay's label!

Coincidence?  Maybe not.  Its uber-clever to trick the eye to associate with an image they already know to be popular or recognizable.  I am not trying to start anything, just my observation of things.  I wonder if these multi million dollar companies and franchises know how closely their images have been 'transfromed' into other mega dollar ventures?  Something to think about?  Is there any ORIGINALITY anymore?  These images beg the answer to that question.  I'm just saying....

ZAM ZHINGA reporting... what do you guys think?

Have you seen any others like this?  Let me know!

"Harpo...WHO DIS WOMAN?" Lil' Wayne frolics on beach with MYSTERY WOMAN!

Lil Wayne was spotted shirtless holding hands with a mystery women walking down Miami Beach earlier this week.

No report on who the woman is or the nature of their involvement.  Potential new baby-mama.  We will see in 9 months.  Until then, the eagerly-anticipated 'Tha Carter IV' will hit the streets in a few more weeks.
EVERYBODY EXCITED?  Let's hope he can sell 'A MILLI' in his 1st week again!

Until then, enjoy the 2nd single 'John' Feat Rick Ross from the disc:

New Video: Ace Hood "Hustle Hard" REMIX feat Rick Ross & Lil' Wayne

Ace Hood is back!! Finally, this dude is getting some shine!!  I always wondered why Dj Khaled didn't put this kid on more stuff!  He has major connects in the business, and this is his only artist, so why not feature this guy, right? RIGHT!  Ace has a street banger on his hands with 'Hustle Hard'.  'WE THE BEST' has upped the ante even more with a hot remix featuring none other than the 'go to man of the hour' Lil' Wayne and Rick Ross.  Not a HUGE budget video, but it serves its purpose.  The original video probably ate a lot out of the budget.  Now that the single has taken off, time to invest back in this up and coming rapper.  Here it goes!!!!

'Blood Sweat and Tears' disc coming soon........

Thank WORLDSTARHIPHOP for the VIDEO!

New Music-(kinda) 'I'm into you' Jennifer Lopez feat. Lil' Wayne...For real!

WELL, well, look what we have here!  Jennifer Lopez in hopes to amp up sales of 'Love?' disc has released the alternate version of her 2nd single 'I'm into you'.  The original video featured vocals by Lil' Wayne, but he did not appear in the visual.  This was due to parole constraints that did not let Lil'Wayne travel to Mexico where the video was shot. The new video doesn't showcase any new material, it now features studio clips of Lil' Wayne interspersed in the original.  Seeing that Lil'Wayne on a track and video pretty much means certified 'HIT", it's interesting that this version was issued first.  Hmmm, some labels feel that they must have a 'pop' friendly version of a song and an 'urban' version of the same song to appeal to all demographics.  Just seems like a divisive tactic that further splits the demographics to me.  But record labels have been doing this for years.  Mariah Carey's camp is notorious for having alternate versions of the same song to appeal to different targets.  Do you agree with this type of marketing?

What are your thoughts?

From what I've been hearing, "Love?" needs as much help as possible.  Not looking to be a HUGE numbers success despite the 'Idol' push and performance.  But we shall see how this pans out.

Jennifer Lopez DEBUTS new video on 'The Today Show'!

The new video from Jennifer Lopez's 7th studio album, "Love?" debuted today on 'The Today Show'. The lush visual, "I'm into You" is for the 2nd single from the disc and features the oh, so popular, 'go to guy' in the rap game right now, 'Liltunechi' better know as Lil' Wayne!
Take a look!

I guess 'Lil' Wayne couldn't make that flight to film the video. Or maybe there is an urban version of the video in the works? Why else would you not include Wayne in the visual???

It's a bird , it's a Plane, It's Lil' Wayne?!?

Seems like Lil' Wayne is once again the 'GO-TO' man when it comes to features and videos.  Here he is seen with 'American Idol' judge and artist Jennifer Lopez on the set of her new video "Into You", featuring none other than 'Liltunchi' himself.  Recently Wayne shot the smoldering hot video with Kelly Rowland and offers a hot 16 to the track that Rowland admits 'totally changed the song for the better".

Lil' Wayne has pushed the release of his much anticipated disc "The Carter IV" back until mid June, but that doesn't mean he can't have fun helping others as well.  Adding Wayne to almost any track is sure to help you get more spins.  However, that formula doesn't work for everybody. Just ask Amerie, Sophia Fresh and Mario.
