San Francisco Fly's New York State Flag In Commemoration of Gay marriage

I was in beautiful San Francisco's recently remodeled then,City Hall. I was there with  my ex partner at an invitation of then mayor Brown to all gay couples to come and dance and perform commitment ceremonies at the rotunda of the hall.  We Never had a commitment ceremony, in fact we were talking of going separates ways, but that did not stop us to dance and be involved in the romance of the whole thing. What a site! This was during gay pride of 2000.  At the time I was convinced that California was going to be the first state in the union with  an equal marriage law and never thought at the time that two years latter I would be residing back in NYC as a single man and eleven years latter gay couples would be legally allowed to tie the knot in New York. It is with great pleasure but with also a sour note that I can post the following act of love towards gay people from the City Of San francisco  to the gay people of new York(adamfoxie*):
In an act of appreciation and in solidarity with the greater LGBTQ community of the Empire State, when New York’s first same-sex marriages commence this Sunday, the New York state flag will fly above San Francisco’s famed Castro neighborhood.
One queer activist remarked that LGBTQ Equality Rights icon Harvey Milk would have been quite pleased as he was a native son of New York.
A Castro merchants group has approved a request to fly the New York State flag this weekend in honor of the Empire State’s move to allow same-sex couples to wed.
The Merchants of Upper Market and Castro’s board last week unanimously voted to support adding an official New York State flag below the over-sized Rainbow Flag that currently flies over the heart of San Francisco’s gayborhood.
“With all that has gone on in California the board feels this is something we should do. We want to show solidarity with our brothers and sisters in New York,” said banker Steve Adams, MUMC’s president.
The New York state flag will be raised at noon Saturday, July 23 and be taken down the evening of Monday, July 25. Same-sex marriage becomes legal in New York State on Sunday, July 24.
