Hard left forces out 'moderate' NUS president Aaron Porter as he announces he is to step down

Aaron Porter, president of the National Union of Students, today announced he will not be seeking re-election. Mr Porter described recent criticism of his response to the fees protests as 'baggage' which he feared could stop the NUS from carrying out its role of representing the majority of students.
